Let it snow...

As this year comes to a close, soft snowflakes are falling here. I thought of the Trevor from CC Stamps and decided to try a guy card. Our son and his wife have come and gone back home again. We visited one of her favorite stores, REI during their time here and I saw the cutest hats for little boys and girls, along with the tiniest cross country skis. This was my card making result.I made use of my favorite Recollections paper, Salt. It looks like snow. I sponged it using Color Box White to lighten the background. Paper was torn to create a small 'hill' and the stamped and colored image was torn to continue the scene.Taupe grosgrain ribbon was added to anchor the card. The corners of the paper were cut with a circle punch to finish up the card along with the words Let it Snow .

She loved it!

On Christmas Eve, Tracy got an early present... her stocking. Then Santa filled it nicely. Hope everyone had a nice one!

Look at this...

What beautiful material just right for a stocking for my daughter in law. My late aunt made stockings for each of us , first for Bob and I as wedding presents and then for each of the boys as they joined the family years ago. As this will be the first Christmas with our son and his wife at our home, we needed to have a stocking just right for her.I saw this beautiful material and with the help from my friend Pam... it is done.Merry Christmas

Celebrate, Celebrate

This is another quick card using leftover paper scraps, ink, and some Stickles with a MS Branch punch. The checked DP was from the scrapbox(unknown), while the strip of bright green(Bazzill)was edged with dark green ink. Copper Stickles were added to the darkest part of the DP pattern. The verse was added stamped on light Kraft paper, and the branches were inked lightly and glued gently to create a wreath. Raffia was used to create a bow.

Christmas Gift Cards

When I give gifts, I like to include a gift card to complete the package. I used this Gorguss Girl on some fun Holiday plaid paper(found at Big Lots in a package of 20 sheets for $2.00.)I love those good finds and especially in my limited splurging budget . I have made these for each of the gifts I am giving this year. Just some gold sheer ribbon for a bow, and more of those lovely snowflakes from the garland found at the Dollar Tree. The image was stamped in black and then a torn makeup sponge was used to edge the image in Old Olive. It almost looks like pine branches to me.A sage mini brad in the snowflake and it was done.
Card Details:
Cardstock :Bazzill-White
Inks:Vivid: Old Olive, Memento:Tuxedo black
Markers:Zig

P.S. Thanks for the kind comments. I am feeling better now. Have fun for yourself during this busy holiday time!

All the seasons...

This is another quick card with the busy time of year upon us all.Just a Bazzill Kraft paper card, leftover DP scraps, a verse and a pretty poinsettia . The silk flower was from the Dollar Tree as part of a Poinsettia bush. I took the flower apart and used a brad to fasten it together again. I stamped the Rubberneck Stamps verse, in Sepia and added a touch of red on the heart. The DP has edges which were torn before it was glued together on to the kraft cardstock.

Embrace the gift...

This saying is another one of my favorites. I found it again on an unmounted stamp in my storage box. I stamped it and after tearing the edges mounted it on Mulberry paper. Next, it was again mounted on a cream Bazzill card stock. The flowers were die cut from a Sizzlit set using a variety of pinks from the scrap box. A touch of ribbon and another note card set of six cards and envelopes was completed for a Christmas gift.

Sledding Emma

I used my Autumn Emma by CC Designs and made her into sledding Emma. I also used the sled from Firecracker Designs. I created a log for her to sit on next to the sled. The DP is from EKSuccess -Beach Bonanza but I thought the swirls looked like snow falling and with the Tulip Snow 3D Paint , made the scene more realistic.I added white brads to anchor the added panel in each of the corners.

The snowflake was cut by using a Nestibilitie die and the brad was from Bazzill as was the cardstock and accent pieces of paper.

Waiting, waiting...

I have been waiting for an order from a stamp company. I placed my small order about 20 days ago, but it never came. I emailed the owner the other day, and received info about it. It had been sent, and supposedly was returned to the post office due to no one being home to sign for the package. However, I did not receive any notice . Today... I got a final notice card. I went off to the Post Office and... they could not find my package.. after waiting about 40 minutes, the clerk returned to the counter and said, she was sorry, but could not locate it. I returned home, and my husband called the Post Office.About an hour later, the doorbell rang... and the package had turned up, and was quickly delivered . So be polite, but persevere and problems can be resolved.. that made my day.(I live outside Detroit in a town of 100,000-not a small place).Thank you Post Office.

Just trying...

I had a card order from someone who wanted this flower with this bear image with torn edges. ( bottom card). It just isn't working for me. but I will work on it more . I had shown her Prima flowers, Ponsettias, a verse with no flowers... but she liked this one. I will think about it and try other papers as accents . Gotta take a break! A few hours away from the card and a brand new idea popped into my head. Just love that "scrap box of treasures" I own filled with forgotten surprises.
I found a lovely patterned scrap , coordinating crochet flowers, rickrack, and brads. Another scrap to add a birthday message and Bruno Bear is all set. I'll see her today to find out if this will work for her recipient.(top card)

Sorry,I'm away...

I will not be posting for a few days...something has come up aside from completing my card orders and I will be back in a few days.
I did find something great at the Dollar Tree. Among the items on hooks on the wall in the Christmas area, I found these beautiful snowflakes. They were on a garland along with the diamond shapes. It was a quick separation of the large snowflakes since they are on spiral loops and now I have some beautiful shiny treasures. I'm sure I will come up with something for the rest of the garland. There are about 20 of those snowflakes on the garland for $1.00. Rush in to the store as they won't last long if you are tempted. I just love finding surprises. Happy crafting.

Busy, Busy

I helped at our church bazaar on Friday evening and all day on Saturday, as I have each year for over 20 years. It was fun as usual. I usually make a basket of cards to sell there as my donation along with baked items. I did that and decided to make a change as well. I made many sample cards and took orders on those samples. Well , I was successful and now have orders for 40 cards. All the money raised will be going towards mission work and restocking our food pantry. With the current economy in Michigan, there are a lot of families to help. The room I was in charge of also had beautiful wreaths, tabletop pieces, outdoor decor, hand painted candles and ornaments, fancy pins, and tree ornaments. I heard at church yesterday that my area sold $700.00 alone. I was so busy and I am happy that I was able to help once again. It is such a fun time to spend with our church family and visitors alike.

This little guy is having an early Christmas this weekend because they don't know about next week for him , let alone next month. ... Even Santa will be stopping by for a quick visit. I enjoy cardmaking but sometimes it's had to come up with the right card for the occasion. I thought good old Grizz would bring a smile to his face, I even gave Grizz painted toenails. I think the little one will like it. Prayers to him and his family.(Update-he was even on the local TV news today!)

Change of plans...

I had a card all set for today but got a emergency call for a sympathy card. I finished the card I had been working on and popped it into the mail. Sometimes one just needs to do that. I hope the card will give the family some comfort during these difficult days for them.

Busy Day...

I volunteer three days a week in my friend's Preschool classroom and as you can imagine, this week is exciting for the children. Tomorrow is our Dressup Day and everyone is expected to dressup differently. I am not a sewing person so I opted for something simple... wearing my pajamas and robe with my hair up in clips...I'm going to be Ms. Wakeup. I found a brand new pink striped robe at the church rummage sale for $2.00 and wearing leggings and a t-shirt with my furry slippers completes my ensemble. Not fancy but doable.
I am finishing up on my treats for the 60 children... bookmarks I stamped and colored with a cute pumpkin. I think they will like them .So please excuse no card for today!

The Way...

I just love this quote by Vincent Van Gogh. "The way to know life is to love many things".When I found it on a stamp, it made me very happy. I have used it several times on cards but never tire of it. With all the leaves in our area falling from the trees, I thought of the many gifts we take for granted in our everyday life. As I rake the never ending leaves(at least it sure seems like that), I wonder how each one turns just a slightly different shade and enjoy watching them gently drift to the ground.
Card Details:

Mushroom Time

While on an ink refill run today, I scanned the paper shelves at Michaels. I noticed that they now have their own brand of papers. Since I have that new Messy Rabbit -Mushroom stamp set, I was seeking something to go with it. Recollections actually has a paper covered with MUSHROOMS. Now, I don't really know how practical this would be normally but it worked out great in this instance.I think he looks great amidst the mushrooms.Just a punch of lighter Kraft paper and a stamped message plus a bit of Hemp cord and it was done

New Technique

I noticed recently that several people on their blogs, tried using Tim Holtz Distress Ink with a mister to create unique backgrounds. This is one of the result I achieved.First ,a variety of Distress Inks were applied to white cardstock. Next, a mini mister sprayed a bit of plain water and the magic started. The colors blended and mixed together. After allowing the paper to dry(on waxed paper),two stamps were used for an image and verse. Next, using the largest of the QuicKutz Nesting Squares, the paper was run through the Cuttlebug. Scraps of coordinating papers were used as accents to pull the card together with ribbon details on one side.A little Stickles for the flower heads, some ribbon and a flower and it was done.

She also included lots of paper crafting treats which I will be using real soon. Just can't wait to ink up the adorable Autumn Messy Rabbit! Thanks again Lyn. You were super kind!

New Emma

My new Emma stamp came from AllThatScraps.com, thanks to a gift certificate. I ordered Autumn Emma who is one of the Sugar Plums stamps from CC Designs. I watercolored her and she is not quite dry yet. I have her sitting on a stack of hay next to a pumpkin.

I did receive the Christmas card I won from Amy L @Amy's Paper Romance(formerly Amy's Paper Obsession.blogspot.com.)on the Your Next Stamp new release blog hop. It's a beauty and so worth the wait. Thanks again Amy!

So thoughtful

I'm still using every last bit of that gorgeous Debbie Mumm Quilt Top paper that I found in my paper file. Today, the Distress ink came out both the stamp the sayings and to do some edging and distressing on the cards. The card on the bottom was using direct to paper with the Spiced Marmalade ink to change the background from taupe to a mellow goldenrod. The card on the top was using that Debbie Mumm paper and has just a hint of the ink located towards the bottom of the card and around the words edged with Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade. Sheer gold Mays ribbon were used on each of the cards. I'm thinking about creating more for small gifts for friends.

A Happy Hello

While reading my emails today, I noticed an update from Maria Bell. She has some of the best tutorials ever. I decided to try her latest called Tag Holder. Check out her blog:
www.stampinspirations.blogspot.com for the directions and pattern details. Here is my version.I found a piece of Debbie Mumm's Quilt Top paper in my stash... I used Bazzill Kraft paper for my folder and scraps of white and brown papers for trims. It was stamped with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and edged around the Hero Arts phrase. Ribbon was added underneath the crossbar to secure the three pocket folder together. Inside are three tags with messages or the pockets could be used to hold gift cards .

Polka Dot Pink

Now this card is not my typical one. I received some stamped images in a swap and this one was one of them. I assumed it is from the Greeting Farm but I couldn't determine what her name really might be. But, she is cute and I thought it might be a good idea for one of my nieces for Christmas. She was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gemsol plus Zig markers. The Die cuts were cut on my Cuttlebug(Olivia alphabet and Vintage sets). The flower was one I created by punching and then spraying and scrunching it up.The cardstock was from my scrap box .The brad is from Bazzill.
