An order for...

Valentine's Day has me puzzled. A friend wanted a Star War type theme card but his lady doesn't like Star Wars. She does like robots and polka dots...maybe different but okay. I played around with all sorts of ideas. Any suggestions?

Beautiful Trim

I was able to get some vintage trims at an estate sale during the fall only to tuck them away "safely" . We all know what that means.. but recently it popped up during my sorting in my craft boxes. I put this piece to the side to use for Valentine's Day cards. I hope the photo shows its woven detail off nicely. The card folder was embossed with Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades Burlap Folder and inked with Barn Door Distress Ink. The image was from a swap, I believe it is a Whiff of Joy image, and water colored. The" With Love" is an oldie stamp from PSX.The backing papers were from my scrapbox.

Daisy Fun

My time with the Daisy (pre-Brownie)group went well and the girls (and 2 brothers) had fun. They were very proud of their bookmarks they made for the patients at the VA Hospital. Here is a photo of them proudly holding their cookie pouches. Thanks for letting me visit everyone!

Hi There

I have been busy with some family things but am back again. I am teaching /sharing card making with a Daisy Troop tomorrow after school. One of the Daisy girls was in my church school class a few years ago. When I did my make and take at the church bazaar in November, Ally and her Mom had fun and I was asked to come and demo with the girls. I have been prepping packets to make life easier for my new friends. I am planning on cookie pouches, a card and then a service project- Book Marks for the VA Hospital. I think that will be enough for them. I precut papers but I'm bringing my Sizzix Sidekick so they can try out some tools along with scissors, punches, and the usual items glue and special ribbons. I'll try to take a photo or two if I can. Until tomorrow, Happy crafting!

Angels to watch over us...

Unfortunately, I need another sympathy card. I thought this set from H&M Stamps(now closed) would be good for this card. The card with a Kraft folder was accented with a handmade flower created by punching out 6 scalloped circles, then sprayed with Glimmer Mist Tattered Rose. After drying, the circles were crumpled before being gathered and fastened with a green MM brad.American Ribbon was used for the stem. The sentiment was stamped with Mementos Tuxedo Black.I will be sending the card in a bubble wrap envelope to maintain the flower.

Try a Digi

stamp that is... I noticed a new digital stamp at stretchnbubbles.blogspot.com that I liked . Each week they have a new stamp at a reduced price.I had no problems resizing it and printing it.
I have a friend having her new baby soon and thought this would make a cute little boy card. After water coloring the image, I cut it out along with the piece of swiss cheese(included with the image) and added it to a piece of designer paper from my scrapbox. I just added" it's a boy" along with the"hi" from my stash of mini sayings and a touch of gold Stickles on the candle. The folder is a half sheet of Bazzill white card stock.Sorry that the photo turned out so light, I think my camera needs recharging again.

Many Thanks

This Penny Black image was the card I went with for thank you notes for gifts this year. This is the last of the notes and will be popped into the mail in the morning. The Nestibilities Classic Scalloped Squares Large cut out the image after she was water colored.A dab of Star Dust Stickles is in her hair. The Scrappy Cat sentiment and the edge of the image were both inked with VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea. The ribbon was from my scrapbox. The folder is Bazzill vanilla and the center image is white Bazzill. The DP is unknown from the scrapbox also.(it is a bit glossy...sorry for the glare).

My word ...

IMAGINE. Every time I turn around, I hear people speaking about their word for the year .I think this will be my focus for the next year. I will be try to dream and imagine the things I hope to accomplish and at the same time, try to balance the responsibilities I already have in my life.
I have decided to use my supplies already in my stash, and imagine new ways to use vintage materials. I have these perfectly nice stamps I have barely used . I found this Club Scrap stamp in a box which looks a lot like a Tim Holtz stamp. What to do with it? I thought ...a card for a guy... I struggle with those cards every time...This one works.
Card Details:
Cardstock: Grey(unknown),White-Bazzill
Inks:Ranger Distress-Stormy Sky,Memories-Sepia
Stamps:Club Scraps(unknown),Scrappy Cat-Inspirations(both from the last swap sale)
Fiber: Twine-Michaels(I made a square knot with it to give it a nautical feel )
Happy Crafting!

Your life...

I have a few last cards to get out in the mail, they are actually thank you cards for gifts. I just love this vintage sentiment from A Stamp in the Hand. The sentiment was stamped with Memories Sepia on white CS and edged with Distress Ink Worn Lipstick. The background cardstock is white Bazzill (from the scrapbox)with a tan folder. The flower and ribbon are from the from the scrapbox-unknown and a MM brad finished it off.
*******
Yes after 10 days, our animal guests are leaving in the morning. Our friends returned from their trip this afternoon and will be picking them up in the morning to return them to the preschool classroom again. It was great to have them again but I have to finish my after the holiday cleanup and the dining room is the last place to finish after the carts and cages are gone.
I stopped at Michaels today to get some Recollection embellishments at -50%, and found a clearance package of card stock for card making. It's a mixed-blue shaded holiday pack and was on clearance. The white and silver papers in the pack have a pearlescence appearance which will be great for Valentine cards.

I am going to have a Blog Candy Giveaway to welcome the New Year. One of my favorite crafting tools is my trusty container of Craft Bond Glue. It holds everything together in my paper crafting. I will be sending out a package of it along with some surprises to the winner.
My question for the contest is -
What is your favorite item used in your paper crafting?
Just leave an comment after this post and the responses will be collected and a name drawn on January 8th.Please make sure you leave a way for me to contact you if you win.
Good luck to all!
I had private messages from a few people who were unable to post a response(without blogs) and I will include them in the drawing too to be fair.
