Friends are kept...

I have some dear friends who live on the other side of the Big Blue Waters who will soon be starting a brand new adventure in their journey in life. I made this card to wish them well. The panel was made with a Scor-pal. The additional panel was created by use of a template to achieve the curved half circles. I oversprayed it with Glimmer Mist and when dried, removed the template. The verse, an oldie from PSX was stamped on the panel and accents of Stickles were added on the ends and also on the heart. A hole was punched and another of those wonderful crochet flowers was added with a brad. Finally, everything was glued together using adhesive.

Stamp:PSX-Friends are forever...(1997)

Day Away...

My husband and I went our to visit our son and DIL on the other side of the state so there are no cards to share today. I took some photos of some vintage building details in the area where they live.
We did get to see the movie Julie/Julia with them. It's so much fun and lighthearted for a current movie(only a couple of swear words). There is a part about being a blogger which was fun to watch on the screen and I could relate to it. Have a great weekend!

Trying something new..

I'm trying something new... I've been busy helping a friend all day... ;-)While reading Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot, I noticed an Accordian Fold Card to make with a Scor-it. Since mine was close by,I decided to try the card out. I chose not to go the fancier method but instead started smaller. Michelle on the site has is all spelled out and it was a quick project.

Fabulous Fall

While out today, I stopped at Meijer's to pick up some groceries and found some Stampology Clear stamps in their crafts department. I saw the Fabulous Fall stamp set and though it would look good paired with Gretel from CC Design Stamps.Using a large acrylic block, the two stamps were connected. They were inked up, and the images were stamped on the card stock. Next, the top of Gretel's head was cut away to give the cards a more dimensional appearance. The stamped images were colored, and glued on a contrasting scrap of card stock and glued to the card itself. Two colors of sheer ribbon were tied together, and added on the side of the card.
Card Details:
Cardstock:Val Pack- Kraft,White and Rust
Ribbons: Mays

Another stamp set I found from the recent Store Garage Sale I attended was the Stampin Up On the Porch Set(dated 1998).This saying from the set was so nice I thought it would be perfect for a thinking of you card. The cardstock was direct to paper covered with Distress Ink, then sprayed with water using a Mini Mister and then oversprayed with Glimmer Mist. A piece of tissue paper was cut into a square and glued on the card.Using an additional scrap of cardstock, the verse was stamped and edged with ink after being paper edged. Finally another one of my special crocheted flowers was added with a brad for a center.Using a die and finding a scrap in the box , a swirl design was cut using the Cuttlebug. A bit of glue and it was complete.

Phew

The Church Rummage sale is over... Three days of selling "Objects of Art" and clothing and assorted treasures, after several days of unwrapping, sorting and setting it up, really tired me out! Fifteen of those lamps I mentioned earlier in the week have been sold and ...the rest of the unsold merchandise ,clothing, household items and shoes, shoes, shoes...are now gone from the church basement, hall and garage. We donated leftovers to a community group and the money we raised will be put to good use by the local food bank.An announcement is always made at church with the total of our profit... got to wait to hear tomorrow.I'll be back to my cardmaking after a good night sleep!

While reading...

While reading Jennifer McGuire's blog,(jennifermcguireink.typepad.com),I learned about this little girl named Kate. She has cancer and a group of paper crafters are collecting hand crafted cards for Kate and her special family. There is a lot more on the website. Here is one I made for her, filled with treats and a special message. More to come!

Explosion Box

I recently went to a gathering of crafters and learned how to make an Explosion Box.
We used directions from a class she had attended but are copy protected. If you would like directions to make one of your own, I would suggest looking on Google. I noticed there are several tutorials for the process. Here are the results. The photo on the top shows the inside of the box, while the photo on the bottom shows the box put all together.

Bags, boxes and hangers

No news today... I have been helping to unravel cartons, bags and boxes to prepare and set up for our church's rummage sale. It is one of the biggest fundraiser we have and the money goes to mission work. It is always kind of funny... each year we receive an abundance of one particular item. This year...it's lamps, we have 3 tables of lamps like these. The congregation is so helpful by making great donations. We have received 18 lamps so far and tomorrow is the day for last minute donations. I got the chance to snap a photo of one of the tables filled with lamps. With the many hands helping, we will be ready for the rush of customers come Thursday morning.

Basic Grey Papers

Basic Grey papers are some of my favorites. I received a 6x6 paper pad of Eva as a gift and as pretty as the patterns were...I didn't want to do anything until I thought about it! In the pad, there are several sheets of almost tied-dyed effect papers. I got an idea for a special card to have on hand . I recently went to my LSS for a " customer garage sale". I was able to find some older stamps. One of my favorites was from SU (part of a set?) which was from John 11:25.I combined it with the praying hands stamp from the Our Daily Bread Designs" Lift up Our Hands" set .The two stamps really worked well together. Just a bit of sheer ribbon and it was complete.

Tag time-Inky Impressions

Today the project is a down loaded image of a cute fairy.
It was free from http:// Inkyimpressionschallenges.blogspot.com. They are having a project this week to make a tag with it. Here is mine.
After printing it onto card stock, the tag was sponged around the edges and then colored in with Zig markers. A flower shaped punch was used to make the hole to attach the ribbon to the tag. The tag was then glued unto a card to complete the project.

Treasures..

Recently, while going through my carton of photos in a box, all in ziploc bags... I found something I had nearly forgotten. My husband and I took a trip to Santa Fe , NM a few years back. I had carefully packed all of my found treasures, brochures, ticket stubs, etc. Sitting at the bottom of the box, was this special stamp I had purchased from a local stamp store there. It was called Storyteller#F-2501.(Stampafe.com). The local Artisans have a daily art show at the Governor's Palace in Santa Fe and there were many figurines in clay of the storyteller with personal interpretations of course. However, they were unfortunately not in our budget . I bought the stamp instead but until today... it had never been inked up.It's a beauty.

Beautiful ,beautiful

While reading through some blogs, I found some papercrafters in Norway. As I am a Norwegian American,I have been working at trying to translate the language into English as I visit the various sites. I grew up in a bilingual household and used to be able to read Norwegian well, but time and lack of practice...equals a big problem. But thanks to Google's dandy translating device...aah-success! One of the blogs had an announcement that they had reached 50,000 hits/visitors.On their blog ,there was this beautiful flower, which I placed on my blog in their honor.Check them out. They do lovely work.

The teal scrap paper and the dies were put through the Cuttlebug. It's Ready

My surprise is done for a new friend in Blogland. While making it, I discovered that it wasn't as intimidating as the nine pages of directions . It was quick and turned out good. I hope the person receiving it likes it too. I won't open it to show what is inside, just full of special treats for her.
P.S. It's my first project with my new Scor-Pal. I just love it and now I can make boxes/containers like the ones I see on blogs I visit. Love those coupons!

The best and most beautiful things

One of my favorite quotes is by Helen Keller. "The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the HEART."I have a stamp set which I bought a while ago because of the variety of quotes included.I was watching a new show on HDTV recently about New Orleans and it reminded me of the trip my husband and I took a few years ago before the flooding. We walked in the beautiful Garden District at dusk and were watching a man scrape paint off this beautiful old iron fence. He told me that in his family, they always keep a bit of the old paint on the repainted one to keep the good spirits alive. In his the honor, I made the fence using one of the Glimmer Screens .The card brings back memories of a special adventure time for us.
This is a one sheet card with nothing but paint and ink to create the effect. The background colors were applied lightly. After drying,The Glimmer Screen was placed on top and sepia ink was lightly sponged all over the fence area. A toothpick dipped into vanilla ink added the hints of "old white paint". Finally, the verse was stamped on the top of the card.
Card Information:
Cardstock:Bazzill- Beige
Glimmer Mist: Sunflower, Jazz Blue, Cherub Pink
Glimmer Screens: Ironworks
Stamp: CTMH-Love Quotes
Inks: Memories-Sepia, Scrappy Cat-Vanilla Frosting

Gardening Update

One of my favorite flowers are sunflowers but the squirrels got to them this year.
Our zuichini crop is starting up ,full of flowers and a "baseball bat "sized zuichini was found over the weekend(great for zuichini bread). Those leaves from the zuichini plants are so great to see popping up in the garden.
Today's card uses an Autumn Leaves stamp from a recent swap I went to at a LSS store. The DP was another of the many papers created with Glimmer Mist. There are still other papers to come on future cards using a variety of inks . The background was made for the panel by lightly spraying Sunflower GM and dabbing it. Next the swirl design was added lightly in green all over. The sunflower was stamped, colored in with a Zig marker in coffee. This was followed up with accents in a Gold metallic marker. The ribbon was tied and everything put together quickly.
Card Information;
Card stock: Bazzill -white,kraft
Ink:Memento -Tuxedo Black,Memories-Sepia, Scrappy Cat-Bright Green
Stamps:Autumn Leaves-A flower Blooms...,Clear Dollar Stamps:Blooming Fun,Club Scrap(unlabeled swirl design)
Markers: Zig-coffee, Gelly Roll-Metallic gold pen

Plant,Grow,Bloom

There are a group of fun people at Stamp n Scrap Hawaii. This is my idea from their Challenge #2 sketch this time.
The cardstock was cut lengthwise to make a long card. The BG paper was cut and placed in the Cuttlebug folder(It was longer so I carefully did one end, and then removed it and switched it around and completed the other side- making sure it matched).Next the circles were punched, stamped and edged. Ribbon was cut,bow made and everything glued on with Glue Dots. The last step was adding a touch of bling with the Stickles.
Card Details;
Paper-Cardstock:Crestwood Inc:Violet,DP-BG-Fusion/Read between the Lines, scraps from the box
Stamp:Verve-Tree(Plain Jane's)
Ink:VersaMagic-JumboJava, Violet was from the Kaleidacolor Berry Blaze(applied with a sponge around the edges

She is always encouraging me with my cardmaking and she surprised me with these adorable embellishments from floss and I put them on my card today.
The white card was sprayed with a combination of Glimmer Mists colors Jazz Blue and Sunflower and dabbed with a tissue.A scrap piece of white was cut with a MS edger(unknown) and stamped with the verse. Holes were punched for the brads and "flowers". A bit of glue and it was done.

A flower blooms..

Thanks for stopping by for a visit on the Verve Blop Hop to celebrate the Big 2nd Anniversary of the special company. You made it here from Gretchen.
I worked on more paper designing and created my card for today. I used the Verve stamp All the Flowers of Tomorrow...It's one of the Plain Jane stamps and the price is $3.00.The card itself was edged with a sponge with ink. The flower was punched using the Marvy Scalloped Circle(purple). A ribbon spool was used to trace a circle for the center of the flower.Curvy stems were cut freehand and the leaves were torn by hand. Finally the two side flowers were torn in three separate circles, each one a bit smaller than the next, crumpled and smoothed out and fastened together using brads.Just a bit of glue and lovely glue dots to put it together and it was done!
The card details:
Cardstock:Bazzill-light blue, spring green, olive, and some peach and white cardstock from the scrap box.
Ink:Archival Ink -sepia
Brads(unknown)
Thanks for your visit, it's my first blog hop to be a part of in addition to hopping just for myself. Now it is time for a little more Verve-y goodness .
Your next stop is Becky @www.lakeshorestamper.com
