Snowflake Princess

I was lucky that I received some stamped images of Gorgess Girls in a recent swap with a friend. I decided that this one, would be great as a Fairy Snow Princess. I colored her in with my Zig markers and thought it would look good to try the ticket look and punched corners of the image with a 1/2inch circle punch.Next the entire edgeof the stamped image was inked and a snowflake was cut and inked as well. A hole was punched to allow for a matching brad and the card stock was glued to the designer paper and to the card.

Pumpkin Patch

As I drove home from school today, I passed several pumpkin patches. It is the end of the season and the fields are nearly clear of those beautiful results.I thought that I would make a card to remember all the gifts from the lowly pumpkin-beautiful flowers during its growing time, then the pumpkin with its treats. The pumpkin can be used in soups, pasta dishes, pies, breads, muffins, cookies, and finally the seeds after baking are a delicious snack.

Busy Day...

I volunteer three days a week in my friend's Preschool classroom and as you can imagine, this week is exciting for the children. Tomorrow is our Dressup Day and everyone is expected to dressup differently. I am not a sewing person so I opted for something simple... wearing my pajamas and robe with my hair up in clips...I'm going to be Ms. Wakeup. I found a brand new pink striped robe at the church rummage sale for $2.00 and wearing leggings and a t-shirt with my furry slippers completes my ensemble. Not fancy but doable.
I am finishing up on my treats for the 60 children... bookmarks I stamped and colored with a cute pumpkin. I think they will like them .So please excuse no card for today!

The Way...

I just love this quote by Vincent Van Gogh. "The way to know life is to love many things".When I found it on a stamp, it made me very happy. I have used it several times on cards but never tire of it. With all the leaves in our area falling from the trees, I thought of the many gifts we take for granted in our everyday life. As I rake the never ending leaves(at least it sure seems like that), I wonder how each one turns just a slightly different shade and enjoy watching them gently drift to the ground.
Card Details:
Cardstock:Bazzill-Olive,Scarlet; scraps from the box for the verse and punched leaves
Punches;Marvy-Maple Leaf, Family Treasure-Maple Leaf(each leaf was inked with Distress Inks)

Mushroom Time

While on an ink refill run today, I scanned the paper shelves at Michaels. I noticed that they now have their own brand of papers. Since I have that new Messy Rabbit -Mushroom stamp set, I was seeking something to go with it. Recollections actually has a paper covered with MUSHROOMS. Now, I don't really know how practical this would be normally but it worked out great in this instance.I think he looks great amidst the mushrooms.Just a punch of lighter Kraft paper and a stamped message plus a bit of Hemp cord and it was done

New Technique

I noticed recently that several people on their blogs, tried using Tim Holtz Distress Ink with a mister to create unique backgrounds. This is one of the result I achieved.First ,a variety of Distress Inks were applied to white cardstock. Next, a mini mister sprayed a bit of plain water and the magic started. The colors blended and mixed together. After allowing the paper to dry(on waxed paper),two stamps were used for an image and verse. Next, using the largest of the QuicKutz Nesting Squares, the paper was run through the Cuttlebug. Scraps of coordinating papers were used as accents to pull the card together with ribbon details on one side.A little Stickles for the flower heads, some ribbon and a flower and it was done.
Card Details:
Cardstock:Bazzill-White,scraps of Lt. Olive Green and Burnt Cranberry
Inks:Memento:Green, Distress Ink-Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade, and Worn Lipstick
Stamps:Hero Arts
Ribbon:Offray-Olive

Halloween Card from far away

I received a great card from a friend far away. Lyn made me a Gorgess Girls card to celebrate the big Halloween fun. They are super cute images(and represent her two little cuties) and she even made some cute 3- d candy corn on the card all glittery and adorable. She also included lots of paper crafting treats which I will be using real soon. Just can't wait to ink up the adorable Autumn Messy Rabbit! Thanks again Lyn. You were super kind!

New Emma

My new Emma stamp came from AllThatScraps.com, thanks to a gift certificate. I ordered Autumn Emma who is one of the Sugar Plums stamps from CC Designs. I watercolored her and she is not quite dry yet. I have her sitting on a stack of hay next to a pumpkin.

I did receive the Christmas card I won from Amy L @Amy's Paper Romance(formerly Amy's Paper Obsession.blogspot.com.)on the Your Next Stamp new release blog hop. It's a beauty and so worth the wait. Thanks again Amy!

So thoughtful

I'm still using every last bit of that gorgeous Debbie Mumm Quilt Top paper that I found in my paper file. Today, the Distress ink came out both the stamp the sayings and to do some edging and distressing on the cards. The card on the bottom was using direct to paper with the Spiced Marmalade ink to change the background from taupe to a mellow goldenrod. The card on the top was using that Debbie Mumm paper and has just a hint of the ink located towards the bottom of the card and around the words edged with Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade. Sheer gold Mays ribbon were used on each of the cards. I'm thinking about creating more for small gifts for friends.

A Happy Hello

While reading my emails today, I noticed an update from Maria Bell. She has some of the best tutorials ever. I decided to try her latest called Tag Holder. Check out her blog:
www.stampinspirations.blogspot.com for the directions and pattern details. Here is my version.I found a piece of Debbie Mumm's Quilt Top paper in my stash... I used Bazzill Kraft paper for my folder and scraps of white and brown papers for trims. It was stamped with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and edged around the Hero Arts phrase. Ribbon was added underneath the crossbar to secure the three pocket folder together. Inside are three tags with messages or the pockets could be used to hold gift cards .

Polka Dot Pink

Now this card is not my typical one. I received some stamped images in a swap and this one was one of them. I assumed it is from the Greeting Farm but I couldn't determine what her name really might be. But, she is cute and I thought it might be a good idea for one of my nieces for Christmas. She was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gemsol plus Zig markers. The Die cuts were cut on my Cuttlebug(Olivia alphabet and Vintage sets). The flower was one I created by punching and then spraying and scrunching it up.The cardstock was from my scrap box .The brad is from Bazzill.

Butterfly Take 2

Here is another version of the card from yesterday. I thought I would surprise my friend with some matching note cards. For this version, I used a sheet from the 6x6 Scrapbook Designer paper pack from K &Company. It was another treasure found at the recent papercrafter's swap I attended. I added a sheer bow in brown and my verse was stamped in Tuxedo Black by Mementos on a scrap of goldenrod card stock and edged with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also added some eyes using Distressed Stickles-Peeled Paint.

Butterfly fly...

I had a request from a church friend for a Butterfly card she had seen on line(www.favecrafts.com/Handmade-Cards/Butterfly-Shaped-Greeting-Card). So today I tried to replicate it. I created my own colors with Glimmer Mist, after creating my butterfly shape. The Sunflower and Jazz blue mix so well together. Two hand punches were used,CM Hearts and then a Marvy punched Circle. Hello(SU) was stamped on the heart in Mementos Tuxedo Black. Just a sheer gold ribbon bow and some more glue dots and the card was complete.Just hope the butterfly sheen is visible, it turned out great.

You light up..

I was thinking of other cards to cheer up friends or to send to someone special and came up with this idea. I love the MS Pine Punch I got last year and love the feathery effect from it. I also like the Verve Stars set and the verse which was stamped in Vivid Raspberry. The square was edged with that ink as well.A sheer pink ribbon bow was added on the top. It looks just like what I was needing for a special friend. The outside of the wreath was sponged with Vivid Pink ink. It was a quick project and I thought it would also be a good idea for a set of note cards.

Working on Christmas flowers-no stamping

Cards that is... while blog hopping I saw an idea for creating 3 dimensional paper flowers. I think it will work for one of my Christmas card ideas. The flower was punched with my old Marvy flower punch from designer paper scraps. Next it was misted with water, then scrunched with fingers and left to dry on waxed paper. Using the Scor-pal first, strips of paper were then cut to create the Christmas basket.Using the Scor-pal, a thin strip of Bazzill card stock was cut to use as a stem. Leaves were cut freehand to add to the flowers. Both glue stick and glue dots were used to assemble this.

A conversation...

As a preschool teacher, I often have had lengthy conversations with 3-5 year old children.I remember a girl named April. All she spoke about was, "when I get big, I will live at the beach"...I asked her often to describe what she would do.She told me over and over again, I will always wear my bathing suit and walk on the beach and find new shells.(as a shell collector myself, I appreciated that). I recently bought this stamp and thought this verse would fit this card tribute to her dreams. The background paper was created once again with my favorite Glimmer Mists on white cardstock. I think it adds a magical aspect to the card.

Getting to know you

In my private blog group, I have a blogging friend to send a treat to far away . I also needed to share something about myself. I made this quick note card to use.
With a piece of cardstock, I used my ScorPal to create a checkered border, just barely visible in the photo. I then stamped the butterfly image and colored it . The next step was to mask the border by using two sticky note papers which were repositioned around the frame. The area was sponged with coordinating ink. The private message was on the inside.
Card Details:
Cardstock: Bazzil white
Ink: Memento-Tuxedo Black,Ancient Page:Brick
Stamp:Too Much Fun -Butterfly

World Card Making Day

Happy World Card Making Day to Everyone!
Today I am working on creating Thanksgiving and Christmas Cards for the Shut-ins at our church. Members of our congregation will sign the cards after worship and they will be sent on to our many friends who are unable to be with us for church. The Thanksgiving cards will also be included with the food baskets we will prepare for people needing help during these tough economic times. I will also be preparing for a cardmaking project for the OperationWriteHome.org which our papercrafting group at church will be focusing on at our meeting .
Have a wonderful time visiting other paper crafters throughout the world! For more information, check out www.moxiefabworld.com.

Changes to the Blog

The cooler temperatures put an idea in my head and I wanted to try something different with the blog, like moving furniture only on a tiny scale. Background Fairy.com has free items to create your own blog changes. Check it out if you are thinking about something new for your own blog.

Friends in the Snow

One of my favorite things to do during holiday times is to send special greeting to friends far away. I have dear friends living in Australia, for whom it is summertime when Father Christmas comes to call. I try to include them in snowy fun ,while they send me beachy cards. This card with alternative colors might work this year. The line of CTMH Snowmen was stamped across the bottom. The verse was next stamped on a scrap of white speckled CS and matted in black.Next my MS snowflake punch went to work punching out pale pink scraps which were accented with Stickles. The last step was a sheer pale pink bow on the top. The hats were colored in with Marvy Markers.
